How can I choose the specific variety of hibiscus plant that I want?

You can choose any of the available hibiscus plants that we offer for sale on our website, as soon as they are ready for sale.

However, if you're looking for a specific variety that isn't currently available, you may need to wait until it is in stock.

Since hibiscus hybrids are not mass-produced, each plant grows at its own pace, both the mother plants and the ones we sell. So all year round we have different varieties for sale.

In such cases, you can either select from our current offerings or be patient until your desired variety becomes available.

Question 3

Can I buy hibiscus plants in bulk?

Accepted Answer

You can order hibiscus rosa-sinensis in any quantity available, but please check the shipping prices for larger orders.

If you wish to order more than 20 plants, please contact us directly for more information.

Regarding hibiscus hybrids (grafted plants), the quantity is limited because each plant requires a rootstock to be grown first, followed by grafting, which depends on the mother plants and their growth.

To ensure fair distribution and prevent speculation, we can only offer up to 11 hibiscus hybrid plants per person per order (just one variety per order).

If you need a larger quantity, please get in touch with us to discuss your specific needs.

Do you offer any discounts for first-time customers or bulk orders?

Yes, we do offer discounts for bulk orders!

For larger orders starting from 100 plants, we have a special discount system – just contact us if you're planning a large order.

Another way to get a discount is by keeping an eye on our newest offers, as we often have certain varieties on sale.

Regarding grafted hibiscus hybrids, we do not offer discounts, as this is not a mass-produced product. It requires significant time, effort, and work to prepare for sale, so we do not offer discounts for them.

Do your plants have an EU health plant certificate / can I get an invoice?

Yes, all of our plants come with an EU plant health certificate, which we send along with the order.

The invoice will be sent to you via email per request.

What types of hibiscus plants do you sell?

We have a collection of over 500 hibiscus hybrids varieties and over 70 hibiscus rosa-sinensis varieties in all possible colors!

We offer hibiscus from Europe, Asia, the USA, Australia, and many other regions, ensuring a diverse and exciting range of plants for our customers.

Most of our hibiscus hybrids for sale are grafted, all of regular hibiscus rosa-sinensis are rooted plants.

Do you sell just hibiscus plants, or do you offer seeds and cuttings as well?

We offer hibiscus plants, seeds, and cuttings. However, with over 500 different hibiscus varieties, our selection varies from month to month.

We always announce on our Instagram and Facebook pages when new varieties are available on our website.

Please note that we mostly do not sell cuttings of hibiscus hybrids, but you can always order hibiscus rosa-sinensis cuttings from us.

How much are your plants?

Our plant prices vary depending on the type of hibiscus.

For regular hibiscus rosa-sinensis, prices start from 15 euros and go up to 22 euros.

Occasionally, we offer some plants on sale for just 12 euros!

For grafted hibiscus hybrids, the prices range from 26 euros per plant for standard-sized varieties that grow moderate or quickly, to 35 euros per plant for larger or rarer varieties that grow more slowly.

What is the size of the plants that you sell?

Almost all of our hibiscus plants are sold in 12 cm diameter pots, with the plant height ranging from 25 to 45 cm, measured from the bottom of the pot.

Please note, 45 cm is the maximum height we can ship using our standard packaging.

Where do your hibiscus plants come from?

The hibiscus plants are grown in our nursery on Madeira Island, Portugal. The greenhouse is located in the capital city of Madeira — Funchal.

Can I visit your nursery and choose the plants that I like in person?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can visit us year-round, but please contact us in advance to make an appointment. Since we primarily sell our plants online, our facility is not open to the public by default.

We recommend letting us know which plants and colors you're interested in, as a lot of the young plants are not in bloom yet. This way, we can prepare your preferred varieties ahead of time, making the process quicker and more efficient for both you and us.

Are the hibiscus plants suitable for indoor or outdoor growth?

Our hibiscus hybrids and rosa-sinensis are suitable for both indoor and outdoor growing, if you live in climate zones 10-12.

In most European countries you have colder climate, but you can successfully grow our hibiscus indoors year-round or place them in your garden during the summer months.

The ideal temperature range for these plants is between 15°C and 30°C. Please note, they do not tolerate temperatures lower than 10°C.

What temperature and conditions do my hibiscus plants need to grow and bloom?

Hibiscus plants thrive in a wide temperature range, from 15°C to 36°C.

Essentially, any insulated window sill without drafts will work well for them.

For lighting, it is important to place the plant on the brightest window sill, ensuring it is not obstructed by anything. Hibiscus plants need as much light as possible to grow and bloom successfully.

During the winter or if you have windows that don't get much sunlight, you can use a phytolamp or a regular fluorescent lamp and hang it above the window to provide the extra light your hibiscus needs.

How do I know if my hibiscus plant needs more or less water?

The main indicator for watering your hibiscus is when the top layer of the substrate dries out by several centimeters. Here are a few methods to check if your plant needs water:

• Soil check with match or finger: Lower a match or your finger into the soil by about 2 cm. If it feels completely dry, it's time to water.
• Weigh the pot: Lift the pot. If it feels light and the top layer of soil is dry, it's time to water.
• Check the roots: If you're unsure if the soil is dry enough, carefully turn the pot over, supporting the soil, and pull the soil lump out for a second. If the roots at the bottom are white and the soil is almost dry, it's time to water. Be careful to return the soil and roots to their place, then water your plant.

With time, you'll get used to determining when your hibiscus needs water just by the weight of the pot. But for now, these methods can help you be sure.

How long does it take for my hibiscus plant to arrive and which post do you use for shipment?

We use our local Portuguese post, CTT, as it is the most efficient and cost-effective way to ship from our island. When the plants arrive the destination country, the parcels will be given to your local post.

The delivery usually takes about 7 to 10 days, though in some cases, it may take up to two weeks.

The shipping cost depends on the weight of the plants and your location within the European Union. Here's an overview of the shipping costs and times:

Once your order has shipped, you will receive a tracking number.

Can I track my order once it has been shipped?

Yes, you will receive the tracking information within 2 days after the shipment.

Please note that we provide you with the tracking information and a link to the Portuguese post, where you can track your parcel as long as it is in Portugal.

Once the parcel enters your country, it is better to track it using the same tracking number on the website of your local post, as it will provide you with more accurate and up-to-date information.

How do you pack the plants to ensure they arrive safely?

We pack our plants very carefully to ensure they arrive safely:

• First, we wrap the lower part of each plant (the pot and soil) separately in a plastic bag to prevent the soil from crumbling during transit.

• Next, we place each plant into very sturdy cardboard packaging to protect the green part of the plant from any damage.

• Finally, we place all the packed plants into a parcel, ensuring that the package is as strong and secure as possible for its size.

This multi-step packing process helps keep your hibiscus plants safe during shipping.

Are hibiscus plants shipped year-round, or only during certain seasons?

We ship our hibiscus plants from March (or April in colder years) until October in colder countries, or until December in warmer countries.

The temperatures in the destination country should not be lower than 8°C at night or higher than 28-30°C during the day for safe shipping.

We ship hibiscus seeds year-round, as long as they are available for sale.

What is your general return policy?

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase from our website. If for any reason you are not entirely happy with your order, we're here to help.

If the plants arrived in poor condition due to extreme weather or delays during shipping, please take photos of the plants as soon as you receive them (or the following day) and send them to us. We will assess the damage and, depending on the condition of the plants, advise you on how to try to save them or offer you a return, half or full refund.

What is your return policy for hibiscus plants?

Please note that hibiscus plants, especially hybrids, are sensitive and shipping within the EU carries risks due to delivery delays or unpredictable weather conditions. In such cases, we find it fair to split the expenses, and we will refund half of the payment for the plants.

If you contact us about the poor condition of the plant a week or more after receiving it, we will not be able to consider your complaint.

If the plants have been left at your local post office for several days and you receive them in poor condition, the buyer will be responsible, and we will not accept complaints in such cases.

What is your return policy for hibiscus seeds?

Please be advised that we do not accept order cancellations once the seeds have been shipped.

It is crucial to follow proper procedures for successful germination, which may require some experience or learning from our provided tips. Kindly note that we do not accept complaints if the seeds fail to sprout due to improper handling.

We carefully check the seeds before shipping, but we cannot 100% guarantee that there will be no empty seeds. That is why we often add some additional seeds to the package.

So, there is no refund or exchange of the seeds.

Do you offer a warranty for your hibiscus plants?

As hibiscus hybrids are quite sensitive plants and require specific care, we cannot offer a warranty for our plants, as proper care, experience and following our tips are the keys to their well-being.

If you contact us weeks or months after receiving your plants with concerns, we will not be able to offer a refund.

The one exception to this rule is if you receive damaged plants and report the damage within the first few days after delivery, while also making efforts to save the plant. If the plant does not survive despite your care, please reach out to us for a refund.
